Yesterday I reached a bit of a milestone in my little
Folksy shop - 50 sales. Yippee! I put a little extra felted owl in to say thank you, and the parcel is now waiting on my kitchen table ready to be taken to the Post Office on Monday morning. I love wrapping parcels, and try to use recycled and leftover materials whenever possible.
I've got a stash of ribbons saved from Birthday and Christmas gifts,
I've just bought a letter stamping set to label up my parcels using recycled card,
...and I never throw away leftover wrapping paper. There's always something that it can be used for...
I think they still look pretty, despite my slightly scavenger approach! For a different approach to presenting gifts and purchases, have a look at the beautiful gift boxes that Becky at
The Fluff Pot makes - lovely, aren't they?
Right, I must go - it's my turn to cook!

Thanks, Liz. Thats a really lovely thing to say. If I'm honest, after the time the boxes take to make, not to mention the cost of the patterned card and extra sticky double sided tape, I would be lucky to make any profit on the sale at all, but I just love making them.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 50th sale! Your work is so lovely it's not surprising. I have taken your advice and been on the forums over the last couple of days and already a few people have favourited my shop and I've had loads more views of my items. Hopefully it will all lead to a sale or two. Do you display your work on flickr or facebook? Other sellers have said it's another good way to promote your work.
I love you letter stamps and have been looking for a set myself. Helen Phillips uses them with permanent ink on her fabrics and they look great.
Thanks so much for the help with my folksy slideshow, I still don't understand what an RSS feed is but it works brilliantly!

Congratulations on 50 Folksy sales! Here's to many more. Wish my ribbon hoard was so beautiful & tidy:)
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty parcels Liz - how exciting to receive one of your fuzzy creations wrapped so beautifully, with such thought and a brilliant example of up-cycling! Congratulations on your milestone -
ReplyDeleteLove your letter stamps too.
I have lots of wrapping paper - I use it mainly for cards...
Keep up the Fuzzy Folksy Funkiness!

{Dab and a dash.}
Lovely packaging! I also have quite a lot of blue and white spotty wrapping paper saved... nothing wrong with a bit of scavenging I say. I'm glad I'm not the only one.... And your letter stamping is a lot neater than mine!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I love your packaging, I think that scavenged things are much nicer than posh shop bought - it shows the attention and care you take
