Surely it's not that time of year again?

There's a hint of festivity in the air today at Fuzzy HQ! Mr T snorted in disgust when he noticed me getting out my red, green and white wool, and muttered something along the lines of 'and we've not even had fireworks yet!' But later this morning when he thought I couldn't hear, I noticed that he was whistling 'Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer'...!

The reason for all this festive coloured wool is that I've started making some Christmas decorations. As you may remember, I've got a bit of a thing for felted owls - can you remember the family of owls that I made last November for my niece's birthday present? I thought that this year I would make some snowy owls in festive colours that would look pretty hanging on a Christmas tree.

First I felt the round bodies,

Then comes the fiddly part of felting the wool to make the eyes, beak and ears.

Finally, I add a string for hanging, and attach the little owl to a perch made from the pear tree in my garden - and here he is!

He's got some friends, too:

These two have already landed in my Folksy shop if you fancy taking a closer peek.

They are very addictive to make - that's what I'm off to do now!
Happy weekend,
Liz

  1. Liz, what cute and cheerful chirpy chappies! Love the way they are perched on their pear swings!
I really appreciate the care you must take having prodded myself so many times needlefelting a snowman last year..I feared he may have turned pink!
Looking forward to seeing many more owls - 7 owls twit-twooing, 6 eggs a nesting, 5 lemoned bowls....??!

  2. These are gorgeous and so inspiring, fab for the Christmas tree. My lil girl has been making some to go in a willow nest. Four broken needles later I fear they will never get completed. Now realising how much goes into needle felting.

  6. Thank you for the lovely comments, everyone. Ali, I was amazed at how quickly these 2 little owls were swept from their perches: I'm in the process of making some more :)
