My Summer...so far

I have to admit that I haven't been much good at keeping my blog up-to-date in recent months...worse, I haven't even had a chance to take a look at other blogs. I'm resigned to the fact that blogging has got to take a backseat in my life at the moment, but I am determined to keep going with it - not least because of the numerous people that I've connected with here in the land of blog, and that I now consider to be friends.

So...apologies that I haven't been around for such a long time. I won't bore you with a rundown of my summer to date, but here's a peak into some of the things I've been up to,

...Rather a lot of work (but no more about that!)

...Days out with the family - I love this photo of my niece Tilly's feet!

...Pottering in the garden and on the allotment, and picking little bunches of flowers after a long day at work (oops I mentioned the W word again!)

...Trips to the seaside. Look at those gorgeous colour combinations - inspiration comes from surprising places!

...and long evenings wandering along the beach

...Visits to gardens - yet more inspiration!

...Including the late Geoff Hamilton's garden, Barnsdale Gardens, in Rutland,

...there are around 40 little gardens in all shapes, styles and sizes that were originally designed for the TV show, Gardener's World - packed full of ideas to steal (and plenty of bumble bees!)

...A trip to Fez, Morocco with Mr T

The ancient medina is full of stunning buildings and little architectural details

...and finally, I spent Saturday making a new batch of felted bowls. My absolute favourite thing to make - I love the way the fibres yield under the felting needle to slowly form the nest-like shape. It's a very relaxing process,

It's back to work tomorrow, but then a Bank Holiday is only just round the corner!

  1. Liz, I can completely identify with the need to put blogland on the back-burner when other commitments prove more pressing. Something has to give and, sadly, it's the little things that we enjoy but are not born from necessity. Anyway, I too have found everyone very forgiving and welcoming when I have had a few moments recently to 'visit' everyone.
It's lovely to hear from you and I can see you are having a very busy but fulfilling summer. Your bowls, as usual, are lovely and you have some super colour inspiration in your photos. Have you noticed how similar the colours are in the flowers and the lobster pot?!
Not long to the bank holiday - hang on in there!

  4. Great to hear your news Liz...and to see more of your fabulous colourful images! Just love those english seashore nets and the amazing shoes in Fez! It must have been an interesting time to be there during Ramadan - I miss the congregating throng near us for prayers during the late hours.
Hope the start back to work has gone smoothly and you keep finding some time to relax with your fuzzy bowls...or felty birdy and animal friends.
